BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A woman charged with conspiracy and murder in connection with the deaths of her two children and her new husband’s late wife will no longer face the death penalty, a judge ruled Tuesday. Lori Vallow Daybell is scheduled to stand trial starting April 3. Both she and Chad Daybell — her newest husband — have pleaded not guilty to murder, conspiracy and grand theft charges in connection with the deaths of Vallow Daybell’s children — 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, and Tylee Ryan, who was last seen a few days before her 17th birthday. They are also charged in connection with the October 2019 death of Chad Daybell’s late wife, Tammy Daybell. Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty for both defendants, but Vallow Daybell’s attorneys said it should be taken off the table in her case because they will not have time to fully review a large amount of evidence that was turned over in recent weeks. During a Tuesday morning hearing, 7th District Judge Steven Boyc...Doctors question aspects of Missouri transgender care limits

Here’s a look at what the rule does and what’s behind some of its assertions.WHAT DOES THE MISSOURI EMERGENCY RULE DO?Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s rule will target treatment for gender-questioning children, which typically begins with puberty-blocking drugs to temporarily pause sexual development. They are offered early in puberty, sometimes before the age of 10. Sex hormones — estrogen or testosterone — are offered next, generally in the teen years, allowing transgender boys and girls to physically transition. Some...21Vianet: Q4 Earnings Snapshot

PHOENIX (AP) — A Native American group that’s trying to stop an effort to build one of the largest copper mines in the United States told a full federal appeals court panel Tuesday that the project would prevent Apaches from exercising their religion by destroying land they consider sacred. U.S. federal government plans for a land swap that will allow Resolution Copper to build the mine will destroy the land in eastern Arizona known as Oak Flat, “barring the Apaches from ever accessing it again and ending their core religious practices forever,” said attorney Luke Goodrich, arguing for the group Apache Stronghold. “We asked the court today to recognize the obvious — that when the government destroys a sacred site, religious liberty law has something to say about it,” Goodrich, vice president and senior counsel at the nonprofit legal institution Becket Law, said in a prepared statement distributed after the hearing in Pasadena, California. “A win for Apache Stronghold wil...HealthEquity: Fiscal Q4 Earnings Snapshot

PUEBLO, Colo. (KDVR) -- A mother of two is thankful to be alive after she said she was the target of a carjacking turned shooting outside her home. “They blocked me in. Then another car came up and they blocked me in,” said Chanise Sena. Sena said she was leaving for work a little after 8:30 in the morning back on Feb. 28. "The boy jumps out of the passenger side, he has a mask on and told me to give him my keys," Sena said. Terrified Sena said she walked back towards her front door with her car keys in hand. “I turned my back for one second. They didn’t even hesitate — I heard the two shots — the next thing I was on the floor," Sena. The group fled the scene without her car. Sena said she screamed for help. “I said, 'Call 911 I just got shot, I can’t move my legs,'" Sena said. Sena was shot twice. One of the bullets entered her back, just missing her spine. The other bullet went through her glute into her bladder and then shattered the femur in one of her legs. She is now...Latest news
